Neighborhood of Phoenix
Living in Gilbert, Arizona
Gilbert Arizona is a neighborhood of the Phoenix Metro Area that has quite a bit of local and national recognition. This slice of heaven just southeast of Phoenix has recently been named the 7th Safest City and 21st Best Place to Live in the entire United States.
This Arizona municipality was only incorporated in 1920, and was done so because in the early 1900’s one of its first residents, William “Bobby” Gilbert, contributed land to the Arizona Eastern Railway. This allowed them to build a rail line between Phoenix and Florence, Arizona. The addition of this railine sparked Gilbert’s nickname; the area used to lovingly be called the “Hay Shipping Capital of the World”.
