There are many smaller neighborhood areas within Tempe but for ease of understanding, we’ll say the area is split into North Tempe and South Tempe. North Tempe is a more densely populated area and is close to Arizona State University (ASU). South Tempe is considered to be more family-friendly with more open spaces.
 
While you might assume that proximity to a college would be a downside it creates a youthful glow to the entire area. It’s hardly a burden and more of a constant refreshed feeling that is felt through local events and modern eateries.
