Just 30 minutes north of downtown Phoenix you’ll find a quiet reprieve from the busy lifestyle of the rest of Phoenix – Carefree, Arizona. Carefree is technically a neighborhood of Phoenix, but can feel like a world away.
Residents of Carefree love the proximity their small town lies to the Sonoran Desert. As well as the lack of traffic, fresh air and overall tranquility here. The center of town surrounds the infamous Carefree sundial, which is claimed to be the largest sundial in the Western Hemisphere, and while we’re not sure if that’s something to celebrate, it is a staple piece of the community.

There are four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school in Carefree, all of which are a part of the Cave Creek Unified School District.
Carefree is often associated with the town of Cave Creek since they’re so close to each other, and both surround the beautiful landmark of Black Mountain.
