Goodyear, Arizona is located in the west valley of Maricopa County. It’s about a 20-30 minute drive from central Goodyear to downtown Phoenix, making the commute quite easy, and it’s a direct shot to downtown!
 
In the mid-2000s Goodyear was rapidly growing, and while it continues to bring more residents in, the area has plenty of lot space for homeowners to take advantage of.
 

History of Goodyear, Arizona

Curious about why this neighborhood of Phoenix is called Goodyear? Well, it’s an easy guess as to what the area is named after – Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company!
 
More specifically, the neighborhood is named after the founder of Goodyear, Charles Goodyear. The company started in this area and cultivated a lot of farmland to grow cotton for its tire production. The cotton production here was applied to rubber tire production for airplanes in World War 2!
 
During this time, the area developed with new homes, and a business district, and built its first post office. Goodyear was only considered a town up until 1985 when it officially became a city of the Phoenix Metro area.
