Gilbert

Neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona

Living in Gilbert, Arizona

Gilbert Arizona is a neighborhood of the Phoenix Metro Area that has quite a bit of local and national recognition. This slice of heaven just southeast of Phoenix has recently been named the 2nd Safest City and 22nd Best Place to Live in the entire United States.

This Arizona municipality was only incorporated in 1920, and was done so because in the early 1900’s one of its first residents, William “Bobby” Gilbert, contributed land to the Arizona Eastern Railway. This allowed them to build a rail line between Phoenix and Florence, Arizona. The addition of this railine sparked Gilbert’s nickname; the area used to lovingly be called the “Hay Shipping Capital of the World”.

From Hay Capital to the safest city, the neighborhood of Gilbert, Arizona has really transformed. It’s gone from an agriculturally focused territory to a thriving, economically booming and diverse suburb that Phoenix residents consider a wonderful place to live.

Since the 1980’s Gilbert has grown exponentially and is one of the largest towns in the U.S. Literally though, Gilbert’s population grew by 4000%+ in under 40 years! With all of that growth you might assume the infrastructure must be low quality, as the high demand was needed so quickly. But despite it’s quick growth, the infrastructure of Gilbert is quite convenient for locals.  Gilbert continues to be a top place to call home and move to in Phoenix.

With that kind of population growth there was of course a thriving housing market. The city of Gilbert continues to be an affordable neighborhood to live in Phoenix, but there is potential for it to increase its average cost of living due to its popularity. The median listing price for a home in Gilbert is $450,000.

Gilbert is home to a nationally ranked school system that offers K-12 public, magnet and charter schools. Making this a great option for those looking to raise a family in the Phoenix area.

Part of choosing a place to live, is what there is to do but the other is what kind of jobs are available nearby. Gilbert is home to businesses focused in engineering, science and technology. Many of these companies are in the Aerospace, Bio-Technology and Renewable Energy  industries. It’s by far, one of the most advanced areas for reputable, clean energy companies.

We anticipate that Gilbert will continue to be a thriving area of the Phoenix Metro area and maintain its reputation of a happy, healthy and affordable place to live.
